In 1971, Signal Doors, a garage door installation and service company, was created in Tucson, Arizona.
In 1979, Signal Doors, a sole proprietorship, was purchased from its original founder.
By 1982, Signal Doors, looking for a way to increase its competitive edge in the garage door industry, started a specialty freight division.
In 1987 Signal added installation and service of gate operators to its scope of work.
In 1989, Signal purchased a competitor corporation, merging it into Signal Doors Inc. This new corporation specialized in garage door installations, hollow metal doors and automated gates. The Freight Company was sold at this time. The hollow metal door division was sold in 1994 and in 1995, the garage door division was sold to an employee, leaving the gate systems division.
In January 1996, this company incorporated as Signal Gates, its focus to serve the burgeoning automated gate industry.
